As some of you might know, I am an avid reader, and one of my favorite books lately is “The Pirate’s Dilemma- How Youth Culture is Reinventing Capitalism” by Matt Mason. It’s a great book that speaks to many things we talk about in New Media, ranging from disruption of the status quo to DIY to finding the elusive gold at the end of the rainbow. I was writing about “Podcamp and Pirates” over on my personal blog, and was linking to Matt Mason’s page, when I discovered he lives in Brooklyn. A quick exchange of emails later, and Matt is going to come and speak at Podcamp NYC!
We have a really great line-up of sessions for Podcamp NYC this year, and many fantastic speakers. We don’t do keynotes per se, or really single out any one person over another as a rule, but I just had to say how excited I am that one of my favorite authors is coming to be a part of Podcamp, and how great it is that social media works- you can contact someone you’ve never met before, and before you know it, they can become part of the community.

Whitney,
I too am an avid reader. Thank you for introducing me to a new, must have! I am looking forward to the conference. You have done an amazing job coordinating the event. Did you put your ‘real life’ on hold?
Whitney,
I know the feeling about making great connections via Social Media.
I’ve been having great Skype chats with a British VR tech/entrepreneur who saw my ADWEEK article on Second Life and is needing my marketing help.
I’m looking forward to PodCamp and will post a post on it on my blog.
John
